If you're coming to Bentonville for a Walmart project, a supplier meeting stretch, a Tyson or J.B. Hunt assignment, or a few weeks of onboarding, you've probably already discovered that "extended-stay hotel near the Home Office" is a crowded search and a thin result. Here's the practical comparison between a hotel room and a short-term rental for a work trip that lasts more than a few nights, and what to watch on the calendar before you book anything.
Where the work actually is
Walmart's new Home Office campus is a 350-acre complex along 8th Street about a mile from downtown, a short drive across town from Oakwood Oasis. Tyson Foods' headquarters is in Springdale, about 25 minutes south on I-49, and J.B. Hunt is in Lowell, roughly 15 minutes. The supplier offices, agencies, and consultancies that orbit Walmart are scattered through Bentonville and Rogers, so almost anything on a Northwest Arkansas itinerary is inside a 30-minute radius from the house.
Hotel room vs. a house, for a two-week trip
An extended-stay hotel gives you a kitchenette, a desk wedged next to the bed, and a laundry room down the hall. For three nights that's fine. For two or three weeks it gets old, and it gets old fastest on the nights you'd rather cook than eat out for the tenth time. What a house changes:
- A dedicated workspace in a room with a door. Take the 7 AM call without sitting on the bed. Fast WiFi that holds up on video.
- A full kitchen. Full-size fridge, oven, dishwasher, Keurig with coffee provided. If you'd rather arrive to a stocked fridge, grocery pre-stock is an add-on you pick at checkout.
- In-unit washer and dryer. Pack for a week, stay for three.
- Two bedrooms, two full bathrooms. King and queen, so two colleagues can split the house and the cost without sharing a bathroom.
- Self check-in and free parking for three vehicles. Smart lock, driveway plus garage, no front desk, no valet.

The calendar problem: Shareholders Week
The one week a year you do not want to be booking at the last minute is Walmart's Associates Week and Annual Shareholders' Meeting, which lands in Bentonville the first week of June. Lodging across the whole region fills up, rates run two to three times normal, and most places are booked well in advance. If your project dates have any flexibility, avoid that week. If they don't, book it the moment you know you're coming. Tyson's annual meeting in early February creates a smaller bump around Springdale, worth knowing but not worth rearranging a trip over.
The honest part
Oakwood Oasis is one side of a duplex in a quiet neighborhood, not a hotel with a lobby and a bar. There's no room service, no gym on site, and no one at a desk at 11 PM, although the host team answers messages quickly. If your company requires a hotel with a corporate rate code, this isn't that. If you can expense a rental and you'd rather live like a person for three weeks, it's a much better trip.
