Coler Mountain Bike Preserve is the one people bring up first when they're trying to talk a friend into visiting Northwest Arkansas: 20 miles of trail with jump lines and technical features that punch well above what you'd expect from something called a "preserve," plus the Airship café right on site if you want to end a ride without leaving the trailhead. If that's the trip you're planning, where you stay matters more than most people give it credit for.
Why location beats amenities here
We say that as people who built a house full of amenities, and we mean it 🌻 none of it matters much if you're spending most of your riding day getting to and from the trail instead of on it. Coler is a short drive from Oakwood Oasis, close enough that it's a realistic half-day option instead of an all-day commitment, which leaves room to also hit Slaughter Pen or the OZ Trails Bike Park on the same trip instead of picking just one.
One thing worth knowing if you're searching around for it: the trail's official web address uses "coler-mtb-preserve," not the fully spelled-out version. A few sites get this wrong and send you to a dead link.
What we'd actually pack
Coler's jump lines are legitimately technical in places, so this isn't the trail to show up under-tired on. Plan your riding day first and your travel day second. Arrive the evening before if you can, so day one at Coler isn't also your travel day.
Planning a bigger trip
If Coler is one stop on a longer visit, our Trails page has the rundown on everything else reachable from the house.
